46 teams including top Malaysia national teams from mainly Johore, Sabah, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Brunei and Sarawak will be taking part in the 2^nd Cash Sweep Sarawak Open Dragon & Lion Dance Championship 2009 organized by Chinese Martial Art Association in collaboration with Ministry of Social Development & Urbanization to be held on 1^st & 2^nd May 2009 at the MBKS Stadium, Jalan Bintawa, Kuching.

Chinese Martial Art Association chairman Chester Lim disclosed this at a simple handover ceremony where the event title sponsor Cash Sweep General Manager Mr Jackson Lim handed over the sponsorship for the Championship to the organizers. Also present were CMAA officials Kueh Sze June, Jason Ong and Lee Han Boon together with Cash Sweep staff, Ho Ek Hock, Lincoln Leong and Karen Tan.

With four categories of events to be competed, namely, traditional lion dance, lion dance on poles, northern lion dance and moonlight dragon dance the championship makes an exciting spectacle going by the participation of several renowned teams that include Malaysian representatives for the coming Hanoi Asian Indoor Games 2009. It is probably the biggest ever for Sarawak in terms of participation involving some 600 athletes and officials and will be a real treat for fans and enthusiasts alike, enthused Chester Lim. It would also be good opportunity for local teams to gain experience from competing with more seasoned teams he noted.

Competition times will run from 8.00 am to 10.30 pm on 1^st May 2009 while it will be from 2.00 pm to 10.30 pm on 2^nd May 2009. Tickets priced at RM 10, RM 20 and RM 50 are also available at the MBKS Indoor Stadium during those times.
